Modern Plagiarism

Students across the nation are always under a very high level of pressure when it comes to plagiarism. Most classes now require a percentage under 10% plagiarism when it comes to writing papers, using an online plagiarism checking program. With loads of information available covering every topic you can think of on the internet it can sometimes be hard to write something that has already been written.

A great piece that confirms how we should view plagiarism in this modern age is by Kenneth Goldsmith. He makes a great point describing how many students use a form of "patch-writing" to help express the point they are trying to make in whatever they are writing about. In digital humanities it can sometimes be very hard to find the author of some art pieces. This is due to DHers having the great capabilities of being able to create computer codes. These programs take pieces of work found on the internet and basically stuff it all together to form a new piece of work. Do you believe that to be plagiarism or just purely the bots ownership?
